Welcome to Team Boulder - Home of the Wolf Pack

Recent News and Updates
Pursuant to Colorado legislation, all Team Boulder coaches are undergoing concussion recognition training as directed by CDC and NFHS.  Please see the forms page for more information on concussions.

Fall and Winter teams have been formed.  This year we have one 7th grade team and two 8th grade teams.  The 7th graders are currently playing in a Denver Power to Play Sports league and will transition into Gold Crown in the Winter.  Both 8th grade teams will play in the Triple Crown Northern Colorado league beginning in October.  The winter will consist of Gold Crown for the Tidstrom/Bertini team and Power to Play Sports for the Hawkes team.

Congratulations to the 6th and 7th grade spring teams.  The 6th graders had a great season resulting in a championship run in the tournament.  The 7th graders performed equally well playing in the 8th grade division and winning the consolation bracket in their league.  Check out the 6th grade hardware below...

Summer
Open Gyms (TBA):
Look for Team Boulder camp information soon.  We are planning specific days for position work (guards, posts, slashers).  Emphasis on individual skills as they relate to the team game will be beneficial for all.

Boxing Out
The 6th graders were challenged with writing a paragraph on the importance of boxing out.  Below are some of their entries:

Box Out Haiku
Height is illusion of control
Position is true source of advantage
The rebound is ours

Shot goes up ...
Box out the opponent
Our turn to score

Tall player waits ...
Controlled by opponent's position
One shot and done

-Anonymous

Boxing out is very important because you can get more rebounds and have a chance to set up your offense and score!

The steps to boxing out  are very simple but the way you will succeed is you just have to want it! Boxing out is so useful because the other teams may be really lazy and not box out but we can destroy the other team just by boxing out.

The ball should drop once before anyone gets the ball (the defense should be boxing out for this to happen)

Steps to box out:

1. Find any player

2. run to her

3. Stick you butt into her

4. Get low

5. Push back

6. Let ball bounce

7. GET THE BALL!

Boxing out is the key to rebounding.  You need to find an open player, square your shoulders to the hoop, and stick your backside into the open player.  You need to use your arms to feel where they are at all times.  You need to get low and you have to make yourself wide with your arms.  You need to be confident against any player you're boxing out, even if they're bigger so you can get the rebound.  Being aggressive and tough are two keys to boxing out.   One player boxing out isn't the key to rebounding; five players boxing out is the key to rebounding.

2010 Community Service Activities include:
  • The Fourmile Shootout - benefitting the victims of the Fourmile fire
  • Canned Food Drive (7th grade) - benefitting the Boulder Food Bank
  • END of SEASON FOOD DRIVE - for our Boulder community homeless shelter. The homeless shelter is in great need of contributions, and we thought this would be a great way for our girls to give back to the Boulder community. Tuesday March 8th is our end of year banquet and we are asking for each of the girls to bring some items from the list below.  We will have a little competition in the works..Which team can bring in the most items? We will have boxes in the lobby marked with each team name. Let's pack these boxes for our residents in need.
    • Donations Needed: Salad Dressing, Canned Vegetables, Jelly, Ketchup, Mustard, Barbeque Sauce, Pancake Mix, Maple Syrup, Sugar (Brown and White), 13-15 oz. Bowls, Metal Spoons, Forks and Knives

Thanks for your help in this effort!
